March 2020 to April 2020

The first exhibition held by the Khaleeji Art Museum.

During the early days of the COVID‑19 pandemic, Khaleejis in the Time of Corona presented a poignant digital showcase profiling over fifteen emerging regional artists across the Gulf. The exhibition blended traditional and digital media—acrylics, photography, mixed media, and more—to reflect Khaleeji experiences of lockdown, quarantine, and resilience. Standout works included Thamer Abdullah’s Graduating During COVID‑19, featuring cap, gown, gloves, and mask—capturing disrupted rites of passage—and Hamda Al Khaja’s surreal view of Dubai’s empty highways. With over 10,000 virtual visits in its first month, this exhibition affirmed the power of digital curation in connecting Gulf narratives during global upheaval.

Visitors can now browse a selection of some of the works that were originally exhibited.
