His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh has served on a number of public and private bodies related to the development of cultural and educational strategies in the United Arab Emirates. He was Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage from 2006 to 2012, and a member of the Board of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and Culture from 2012 to 2016 (which is currently known as the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism). In that role, he contributed to the development of some of Abu Dhabi’s main cultural and art initiatives, including the Saadiyat Island Cultural District and its museums, such as the Louvre Museum Abu Dhabi.

Beyond the UAE, His Excellency was the first non-German Chair of the Wagner Foundation in Leipzig, Germany from 2014 to 2017. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, Canada from 2016 to 2019. In 2020, His Excellency was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in Washington DC and to the French Academy of Moral and Political Sciences by the Institut de France in Paris in 2021.

His Excellency served as a Minister of State for Cultural and Public Diplomacy in the UAE from 2017 to 2021, during which he contributed to the establishment of the Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy. He is the Cultural Advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He is currently the Chancellor of UAE University.
