Museum in the Sky Volume I Gallery
eL Seed is an internationally recognized artist who is based in Dubai. Born in 1981, he is known for using Arabic calligraphy and a distinctive style to spread messages of peace, unity and highlight the commonalities of human existence as well as subvert stereotypes. He has created a variety of works in France, Canada, USA, South Africa, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Lebanon and Tunisia. His work has also been exhibited in London, Paris, Milan, Cairo and Dubai. In 2017, eL Seed won the UNESCO Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture. A year earlier, he was also named a Global Thinker by Foreign Policy for his project Perception in Cairo.
In his gallery in the sky, which was available for passengers onboard Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways to view through their inflight entertainment eL Seed spoke about and showcased some of his most iconic creations Declaration, Perception and The Bridge, which stand in the UAE, Egypt and South Korea, respectively.

Hussain Almoosawi is an Emirati multidisciplinary creative with 15 years of experience in the realms of design, photography, and visual journalism. After obtaining a BA from Queensland College of Art in 2007, Almoosawi embarked on a design career working for The Letter D. and the Museum of Brisbane. He then completed an MA in Communication Design at Swinburne University in Melbourne, where he documented some of the city’s urban typologies. After returning home to the UAE in 2013, he served as an infographic artist and content creator for The National and other media platforms at Abu Dhabi Media for several years. He currently serves as the acting Editor In Chief of National Geographic Arabic. In tandem, Almoosawi has been on a quest to rediscover the UAE’s urban landscapes by systematically documenting its overlooked modern architecture. His work has been exhibited in the Sharjah Art Museum, Abu Dhabi Art, the Sharjah Architecture Triennial, Gulf Photo Plus Dubai and Gallery Bawa.
In his gallery in the sky, Almoosawi, who is infatuated with modern architecture, spoke to viewers about three of the UAE’s most intriguing buildings –The Dubai World Trade Centre, AlOmaira Building and Liwa Tower – which he captured through his camera lens. The gallery was available for passengers onboard Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways to view on their inflight entertainment.

Born in 1989, Maitha Abdalla is a multidisciplinary Emirati artist whose paintings, sculptures, and performance pieces explore the themes of memory and travel. A graduate of Zayed University and Middlesex University, Abdalla was an artist in residence and fellow at the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation and the ADMAF Visual Arts Residency Programme, amongst others. She has had solo exhibitions in Abu Dhabi’s Warehouse421 and Dubai’s Tabari Art Space. Her work has also been exhibited within group exhibitions in London, Venice, Brussels and Sharjah. In 2015, Abdalla was the recipient of the Sheikha Manal Arts Award.
Inspired by the stories she grew up hearing, the young artist shared the inspiration behind three of her most memorable artworks, which are often described as ‘theatrical,’ in her gallery in the sky. The gallery was available for passengers onboard Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways to view on their inflight entertainment.

About the Artist Born in 1962, Nujoom Al-Ghanem is one of the UAE’s most notable female artists, poets and film directors whose work has been recognized and honoured on national and international levels. Al-Ghanem has a Bachelor’s Degree in Video Production from Ohio University, USA and a Master’s Degree in Media Production from the School of Film, Griffith University, Australia. In 2019, she was the solo artist of the UAE National Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. A year earlier, Al-Ghanem was the recipient of the Pride of the UAE Medal through the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award. She explores different mediums and materials when creating art, often blending poetry, film and art together. Among the themes she explores through her artwork is the human condition.
