Nujoom Al-Ghanem’s Gallery

Born in 1962, Nujoom Al-Ghanem is one of the UAE’s most notable female artists, poets and film directors whose work has been recognised and honoured on national and international levels. Al-Ghanem has a Bachelor’s Degree in Video Production from Ohio University, USA and a Master’s Degree in Media Production from the School of Film, Griffith University, Australia. In 2019, she was the solo artist of the UAE National Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. A year earlier, Al-Ghanem was the recipient of the Pride of the UAE Medal through the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award. She explores different mediums and materials when creating art, often blending poetry, film and art together. Amongst the themes she explores through her artwork is the human condition.

In her gallery in the sky, which is available for passengers onboard Emirates Airlines to view on their inflight entertainment, Ice, and on Etihad Airways’ inflight entertainment, E-Box, Al-Ghanem shares some of her artworks, which centre on the human face and expressions.

The Khaleeji Art Museum partnered up with Art and Object, a fine art news website based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, which provided media coverage of the Museum in the Sky’s first series. To read Nujoom Al-Ghanem’s interview with them, please click here.
